Once a field of dreams, Zeeland Park (Zeeland ND) today is a scattering of artifacts that recall its glory days. The Zeeland Arch is one of those remaining artifacts. In the late 1930s local businessmen raised money, by charging admission to town team basketball games, to buy a tract of land at the south end of the main street for a city park. Then they got federal money from the WPA to build a baseball park with grandstand and the distinctive arched gateway. John Schweigert was the foreman for the project. The grandstand once stood directly south of where the arch now remains.
